History OF MONGOLIAN bARBEQUE

During the Yuan Dynasty (1206- 1341AD), the Mongolian Barbecue was introduced into the Chinese culture by Ghenghis Khan invasion of China. In the province of Mongolia, the mighty Khan’s troops would camp on the banks of the great River Khan-Balik. The Mongols would prepare slivers meat by slicing them with their razor-sharp swords. They would then cook their food by searing it on their shields that was heated over their campfires. Their diet consisted of mutton and beef. The addition of vegetables and other ingredients is strictly a Chinese innovation, as vegetables were very scarce in Mongolia during wartime. Ghenghis Khan and his fiercest warriors would enjoy the same food prepared for them on a large hot griddle. It is with this ancient tradition in mind that we bring you one of the world’s least known, but most known original eating experiences.
